The critics were right. Anne Tyler is a master at capturing the evolution of family. The problems and solutions that she wrote about in Saint Maybe were very real and easy for me to associate with. I am also quite familiar the Baltimore area and was interested in what other towns and locations Tyler would mention that I knew of.
