Examination of Language
This course has been my first real introduction to linguistics. I have been exposed to many new ideas and concepts. I now realize that there are many important factors concerning language that I was completely ignorant of. With my new found knowledge I have begun to notice the way people talk. This paper then will be my observations of my son and his particular form of communication.

prompted him for more. He could very easily create almost any echo question on any subject. He also used transformations easily. For example he would tell the cat “Go away” or “come here.” It was quite remarkable how accurately he used these complex rules of the language.
I have enjoyed applying the concepts learned in class to this “real world” situation. It has helped me gain a much better understanding of human communication.
