I would define a revolution as being “a complete change of conditions” and under these criteria the Five Year Plan’s were unquestionably a revolution. There were downsides (to put it lightly) to collectivisation but these do not make the period any less of a revolution. After all, no one ever said that a revolution had to be for the good of the people, did they?
