Both, the movie and the book, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" were great. However, they had had many differences the climax or theme was the same. Some of the most noticeable differences were all in the characters and the setting.

In the book, the setting, which was another big difference, was on a summer in New Mexico in 1773. In the movie, it took place in a summer in South Carolina, present time. However, they had many differences the theme or climax was the same, Helen and Ray were trying to find out who the killer was.
