Joe Orton writes the play, Loot. While awaiting a burial, the poor late Mrs. McLeavy is removed from her coffin so that her devious son and his crony can hide a sum of stolen money. Their mother's nurse, the often-widowed Fay, who has had overwhelmingly, seven husbands, which all have died under mysterious circumstances, has designs on the grieving widower. However a change in Fay fate has her discover the loot which had been hidden.

Loot’s theme is of greed. It allows the reader to see the true effects of what happens when love, money, and deception enter a family atmosphere. The character, Mr. McLeavy, represents the gullibleness of this world while his son shows the corruption one can endure. In summation, Loot, can be thought of as a definite dark comedy.
