The Zealots were Jewish revolutionaries in the first century Judaea, whose religious zeal lead them to fight to the death against Roman domination, and to kill or persecute Jews who collaborated with the Romans. Christianity, a zealot is someone who pushes their particular brand of the gospel down the throats of everyone they can. One would be described as being arrogant, self-righteous, and condemning. Back in Jesus’ time, the Zealots were strong fighters, who would not give up their independence to the Romans. They’ve helped prove to people today, that even if you have to struggle greatly for something, you should continue to fight for what you want.
