The United States of America is responsible for starting the Cold War with the Russians. The Cold War broke out shortly after the Allied powers defeated the Axis powers in World War II. The Cold War was an arms race between the Russians and the Americans that lasted until the 1980’s.

The United States, not the Soviet Union, bears the responsibility for the start of the Cold War. Russia did not intend to take over the world, Russia simply wanted to create a buffer zone to prevent further invasions from Eastern Europe. Communism was not going to take over the world. America misinterpreted the facts, and created the Soviet threat altogether. The Americans who were intent on opposing any Soviet action aggrandized this “Soviet threat”.
