What causes schizophrenia? This is an area of great debate. It is probable that there are a number of different causes. The purpose of this writing is to outline some of the different explanations on what causes schizophrenia and to compare these in light of the nature of the evidence found.

However Jackson (1960) suggests that although the twins in Kallmanns studies have been reared apart from infancy that it does not take into account the life stresses that each incurred which could lead to schizophrenia. This leads to the next theory of causes to schizophrenia which unlike this theory which is a more clinical study this is more a behavioural study of the illness.
