In the poem “Ulysses,” by Tennyson , Ulysses states that there is little point in staying home even though he is older. It seems that he will never be happy unless he is traveling and looking for adventure. Ulysses states that he has so enjoyed all of his travels on the seas, he wants to return to the adventure so he can learn more, like when he says “to follow knowledge like a sinking star.” Yet the question here still remains- will he ever be happy and fulfilled? And what about leaving his family again? This could be considered his “flaw”, although the portrayal by Tennyson is positive on the whole.
