Although the main idea of this war was to separate themselves from Britain, the colonies still stayed very close with the British government. The objective of this war was to abolish the taxation that the British applied upon the colonies and to liberate the colonies from British control, and ultimately the did achieve their goals and over time became the nation we know them to be today.
