In the play The Tempest, William Shakespeare shows that power can corrupt a human’s nature and that forgiveness is needed to heal and clean the soul of the human. Prospero realizes that he needs to forgive the people on the island so that he can be set free himself, yet it seems as if he uses forgiveness as just another way to get power.
