In order to fully understand the book you must truly understand the various supernatural events within the book and their underlings. Hawthorne handles his flirtation with the super natural by expressing it through various themes. The three themes used to express Hawthornes flirtation with supernatural events within The Scarlet Letter are honesty, wildness, and scarlet.
