and having to pay for them afterwards is not new. The Christian religion centers itself around the confession of sins done by men or women. Jesus gives people the power to repent and do penance to receive his forgiveness. However this God is not remissive and hence can’t be Jesus. If The Mariner would like to live a normal life again he would have to find a way to please this other supernatural being.
