The reformation was to cleanse the church from its worldliness as the church was focused on worldly issues such as earning money and spending its wealth on luxury, buildings, and arts as well as misusing holy sacraments of the church. The reformation resulted in a great split in the western church which the eastern churches have not experienced till the present date.
