Ain’t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin” (Bambara 400) it is desire which will gain the upper hand. I consider the fact that Bambara uses this story to make a point. My impression of this short story was that Miss Moore’s lesson was is intended to instill not only awareness of how the other half lives, but is angry at the fact that black people in America do not tend to live this way.
