When reading different stories, you can often relate one to another, even if they are written by different authors and are over different topics. I personally found common ideas between “The Hand” by Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, a story of a wife and her new husband, and “The Sock” by Lydia Davis, a story between an ex-wife, her ex-husband, and his new wife. compare it to other things and think a little deeper into the description. The hand almost seems to frighten her, which is strange because it’s the hand of the person she is in love with. The story ends when they are both awake the next morning, and she kisses his hand as they are having breakfast.
The woman in each story is struggling with a new situation that is unfamiliar and frightening to her.
