Gilly felt guilty about stealing Mrs Trotter's money and everything that she put them through, so she phoned her and said that she was phoning to sort everything out and that she wanted to come back because she missed them all.
I enjoyed the novel "The Great Gilly Hopkins" because the writer used some good techniques to make the novel seem as if it were in real life.
