James Douglas Morrison was born on December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Florida. His father, George Stephen Morrison, was in the U.S. Navy and had just returned from duties in the Pacific. After Jim was born, his father left to go back to war. For the next three years, Jim spent his life with his mother, Clara, living with Steve Morrison’s parents in Clearwater on the Gulf of Mexico (Sugarman 10).

without their lead singer. These are Other Voices in 1971 and Full Circle in 1972. Those albums were flops and no one came to their concerts (Sugarman 53).
The Doors are still playing some today. In the 1990s they toured Europe with Ray doing vocals. They are now multimillionaires. Fans still enjoy their music but wish Jim were still around. Although Morrison is no longer with us, his spirit, poetry, and music will always stay with the fans.
