The Crusades were a series of “holy wars.” They began over religious conflicts between the Muslim Turks and the Christian Europeans. The Crusades were mainly fought over land. Yet, those who fought found personal reasons, such as wealth, fame, and honor.
In 1071 the Muslim Turks conquered Palestine, now Israel, and began to attack the Christians. By the year 1095, Pope Urban II called on men to go against the Muslim Turks and reclaim the holy city

land through its wars. The religion Islam spread. As did the respect the Middle East gained through the tough wars it went through.
The sad thing that we learned from the Crusades is that religion was manipulated in order to answer why such horrible things were done. We also see that racism is draw on from centuries ago and lasts today. Our technology in war may have advances but human nature hasn’t.
