In the end where it really counts, he knows that his name doesn’t mean anything to God, and that there is no point in lying to keep it clean. “A man may think God sleeps, but God sees everything.” (Miller, 110) Lying before God is futile, because a name lasts a lifetime, but a pure soul is forever.
