After reading the novel ‘That Eye, The Sky’ written by Tim Winton, I found that numerous characters underwent gradual change following the unexpected events that occurred in their lives. In particular the change in ‘Ort’s’ character was very evident. It became clear through the alteration in ‘Ort’s’ spiritual beliefs, physical changes, and outlook on the world, that as a character he grew and evolved throughout the text. became a stable individual. He triumphed over evil, saw the goodness in all things and learnt to love for himself. It was through the negative and falsified images and people in his life that Ort gained a clearer understanding for life itself. A character so full of hope from the beginning of the text proved that his hope prevailed and he was able to change as a person for the better, by following his heart.
