Symbols: The eye is a symbol of thought evil, which actually isn’t evil at all. The heartbeat he hears symbolizes his guilt and insecurity building inside him.
Evaluation: The style of the story makes it very appealing. Poe uses descriptive words and 1st person point of view to captivate the reader and make them feel they are there living in the story.
