It wasn't Chief Justice Moore's intention to defy the Court by erecting the Ten Commandments monument, however, as a Chief Justice sworn to uphold the law, he shouldn't have broken the law that he has worked around most of his adult life. An opinion wasn't at all a good reason to risk the prestigious seat on the Supreme Court.
