The Way One Sees Themselves
After reading the play, “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams, I have learned how family affects who we view ourselves. Stella DuBois has been affected the most throughout this play by both her sister Blanche DuBois, and her husband Stanley Kowalski. Stella has been degraded and taught to look down upon herself throughout life by the people who are supposed to love her the most.

Throughout the play, Stella has not taken an active role in building her self confidence. She is a very passive person and let’s people walk all over. Even though she seems to be needed by everyone, they still try to make her feel badly about herself. People need to find self confidence within, but if there is not even one person to help them along the way then all is lost.
