Through my reading of the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, I can see many of the under developed, pre-mature stigmas about women that have matured to become highly viewed/considered beliefs of today. Such stigmas include the beliefs that women can’t stand on their own, should be seen not taken seriously and that women are the possessions of the man the beside with. ones I’ve discussed, it can be seen how times really haven’t changed. Sure technology and life is more advanced, but what else has really changed? Many of yesterday’s problems and views, as you see, still exist today. They are still practiced and passed on and its unfortunate. We talk of how far we’ve come and how advanced and civilized we are, yet when you look at really isn’t that far.
