Friar Laurence is very careful before the marriage, and tries his best to help after the marriage, but it is not enough. His plans actually hurt them. Maybe their lower, poorer social status makes them so helpless. Perhaps if money weren’t so important to who makes these decisions, the story would have ended differently.
