…showed last 75 words of 305 total…then states that he muttered that the raven will leave him, just like all of his other hopes have left him in the past. Poe uses the word “muttered”, to express how the man feels gloomy and heartbroken from the rejection of the neglecting raven. Thus, the rhyme scheme used in this poem reveals the melancholy mood of the each stanza by using words that portray the aspects of both the man and the raven.
