Puritans were members of a religious movement of the 1500’s and 1600’s. Puritanism started in England and spread to America. The Puritanism essentially were part of the Church of England but with “radical conservative” views. The Bible led the Puritans’ lives. Anything a Puritan did had to abide by the Bible. They even judged people by the Bible. The Puritans thought that a person should not do anything on Sunday, but go to church

Religion played an extremely important role in the lives of early Puritans. Puritans high regard for helping their fellow man. This strong belief in a healthy community was a reflection of their high interest in religion. Puritans believed in God and how much they wanted to please Him.
