INTRODUCTION
I am going to compare two nineteenth century poems and see their contrasts and their similarities:
STORYLINES:
‘Porphyria’s Lover’ is all about love, death and jealousy.
It starts with descriptions about the weather, laying out the settings and mood of the night.
What happens, is that the narrator, is in love with a lady called Porphyria, and wants to be with her forever, except that she has wealthy friends which she would rather

be ‘Porphyria’s Lover, as it had lots of meaning to it. I did also like ‘The sisters’ because the rhyming sounded quite good.
The only bits of both poems that I did not really, not so much dislike, but was a bit dubious about, were the old words used that I did not know the meaning of, and it was a bit confusing.
But all together, I thought ‘Porphyria’s Lover’ was the best.
