Accountability and justice, while not always practiced, have at least been adhered to in principle throughout history. While human sacrifice existed in ancient times, indiscriminate murder has never been a generally accepted form of behavior. Universal morals and values have proven to be very real, lasting, and important parts of humanity and to disregard this fact is simply to deny the truth.
