The Importance of Early Childhood Development in Elementary Education
Early childhood is the most rapid period of development in a human life. Teachers need to be able to recognize and understand children’s behavior to help them grow successfully in life. One way to better understand children is through child development. Early child care and development is not only what happens within the child, but also the care the child requires in order to prosper.

Pre-primary education for today’s children is on the rise. According to the “National Center for Education Statistics” between 1970 and 1998, pre-primary enrollment of three to five year olds rose by nearly thirty percent. Today’s children are more likely to be riding school buses at a younger age, than tricycles (“You’re” 1). Do to an “economic and unpredictable demographic shift” questions are brought up about how America should care for their children (Lubeck 1).
