Shakespeare wrote many plays during his lifetime. Some of his plays have similar comedic characteristics such as, A midsummer’s Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Measure for Measure, and The Taming of the Shrew are just 4 of the comedies Shakespeare wrote. Comparing and Contrasting these 4 plays will help us to understand Shakespeare thought comedy was in the 1600’s. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a festive comedy. The play takes place in June

These four plays all have different messages, which are told in various ways. Shakespeare was so talented he could write many different types of stories with such grace. These four plays are just examples of the different extremes he was capable of. One must account also account the attitudes of sixteenth century England and the fact that the play is a comedy and is not meant to be taken seriously, comedies usually happily.
