The cemeteries in New Orleans aren’t like the ones around here they are above the ground. They are like because in New Orleans the water table is high so the casket would literally float. In the cemeteries 90% of the burials are above ground this makes the cemeteries look like little towns they are often called the “cities of the dead”. tombs that look like little house with iron fences around them. The rows of tombs in the cemeteries resemble streets. This style of cemetery made New Orleans a very famous place. If you plan on going to see the beautiful cemeteries beware, do not go there alone. Travel with a group of people or get a tour guide because the narrow paths and many tombs make concealment for muggers very good and easy to do.
