to their trials. As children, we are so self-involved. All we seem to know is our own happiness. But there comes a time in all our lives when we realize the great sacrifices that were made for us, and how much we owe to those that raised us. In all three poems, the speakers are able to feel the respect and admiration for their parents’ and grandparents’ hard work, sacrifices, and dedication to their family.
