things. It is obvious that he is showing the readers that the women of this time were domestic wives and mothers as well as strong ready to fight rebels. The women Azuela writes about have many depths to them. It is the compassion that they contain at the same time as they are fighting so hard for what they believe in that makes them the strongest group of people contained in this novel.
