Of all the political authors and scholars of the Renaissance period, there is always one name that seems to rise above unlike no other than Niccolo Machiavelli. Many have criticized him as being someone of an “evil” person because of his published opinions over politics. He also states that there is a “striking similarity between the city states of the fifteenth-century Italy and the great corporations of the last half of the twentieth century” (McAlpine xiii). It is because of these reasons mentioned that I feel that Machiavelli is a modern man, and also why I feel that McAlpine would agree with this argument.
