Reason Versus Desire

to the tragedy of Macbeth. Macbeth is a noble hero from whom of all people treason is least expected. At a simple glance, he seems to be completely loyal, but in the end turns out to be a greater villain than any reader could have possibly suspected at the beginning of the story. The fact that such a great man could plot and carry out such deceitful things make Macbeth the tragedy that it is.
