In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the word blood has many different meanings. Its meaning seems to change from good to evil as the play progresses. It also is a reoccurring theme throughout the play. means many different things as the play progresses. It seems to take a good meaning at the beginning, but then takes a turn for the worst toward the end of the play. At the beginning, to bloody yourself was a sign of bravery, but at the end, it signifies death, or murder. It shows a sign of regret, revenge and guilt. This is how it touches upon nearly every theme throughout the play.
