Once again, I believe that we honor Martin Luther King Jr. with a national holiday is because he appealed to many. He wanted justice and equality for both blacks and whites and he was willing to do so in a non-violent way. Malcolm X turned some people away with his ideas of whites and his violent approaches. Therefore, King won the hearts and sympathy of people.
