Though the audience is alienated from Lynch’s initial intention of his films, the concept of movies subject the audience to be interpretive. “Lost Highway” is an object that creates stir beyond the convention of tradition Hollywood cinema. Lynch challenges the audience and wills them into a direction of thought—much like abstract art, but the psychology behind his film is purely postmodern.
