Ralph is chosen to be the chief, primarily because of his initiative in calling the meeting, much to Jack¡¦s disappointment. In order to mend Jack¡¦s hurt feeling, Ralph assigns Jack and his choir to the honorable duty of being hunters of the group. Jack¡¦s shame disappeared and restores pride immediately. He further comforts himself by bullying Piggy. Despite of the nature arrogant attitude of Jack, his ability of organization cannot be neglected.
