A software language developed by the United States Department of Defense was named “Ada” in 1979, in her honor. Ironically, after this astounding mathematical contribution, Ada fell ill and she gambled her family into debt. She died on November 27, 1852 from cancer of the uterus. She was buried in London, next to the father she never knew.
