Motown, Jay and the Americans, or Buck Owens. Hamburger and fries, Catholic or Protestant. That made us a tight grouping regardless of where we come from.
The experience of Nam was first and foremost about our commitment to each other. Maybe others didn’t care about us, but we did. It was about looking after your brother. That is what I took away from that war and I haven’t experienced anything close ever since.
