How the Bible Came to be
Several different materials were used in the writing of the Bible. The Bible was written on papyrus, which is a material that was chosen for its durability. However, papyrus -- though more durable than other materials that could have been chosen -- was still very much a perishable material. As a result, most of the ancient manuscripts have been destroyed. All autographs have been lost for this reason.

<Tab/>The order and division of the Hebrew Canon differs from that of the Protestant Canon (see chart on right compared to the chart on the unique page). Jesus' recognition of the Old Testament Canon can be found in the New Testament [Luke 24:44] where he referred to the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings (he mentioned the Psalms specifically -- probably because it is the largest book of the writings).
