Lisel Mueller wrote the poem “ Hope.” Mueller uses common things in order to explain to the reader how hope affects our everyday lives. In stanza two hope sprouts. In this stanza the poet uses references to eyes that cannot actually see. Hope cannot be seen except in the eyes of those who have hope. this stanza indicate the purpose of hope. The stanza states that hope is a singular gift that we cannot destroy, it also refutes death, and it leads to the future. The Mueller in this stanza takes hope to a more personal yet collective level. She uses the pronouns we and ourselves to represent all of mankind.
The message of this poem is that hope makes up everything that we do, it is all around us.
