With these mini communities dotted through out the United States, and overseas, they need to have their own way of feeling safe, and dealing with lawbreakers. Tripoli. Again in June of 1812, the United States was at war with the United Kingdom. This time at war, the picket duties were now assigned to the infantry. The provost corps and the Commissary General of Prisoners were again established. By January 8, 1815, the war of 1812 ended with the defeat of the British at “the Battle of New Orleans”. American forces had seven die, and six wounded. While the British absorbed two thousand one hundred casualties.
