Matthew was a passive and kindly person who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. His story is a stark example of a robbery that escalated into a deadly hate crime. In our society, women have also felt ostracized in the business environment. This is a form of discrimination much like the prejudice of many hate crimes.
