Early Life
William Henry Harrison was born on February 9, 1773 at his father’s family plantation called "Berkeley" located on the James River about 20 miles south of Richmond in Charles City County, Va. His father, Benjamin Harrison, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and later the governor of Virginia between 1781 and 1784 and the young Harrison always considered himself a "

Washington and stayed at home in North Bend. By 1846, of her 10 children, only one was still alive. When the Harrison home burned down in 1858 she went to live with her last surviving child, John Scott Harrison. She died there in 1864 at the age of 88. Her grandson, Benjamin Harrison, was only 8 years old when William Henry Harrison died. Later he would go on to be the 23rd President of the United States.
