Abstract In this investigation gel-electrophoresis is used in determining a killer’s identity. DNA found under the victim’s fingernails is compared to two possible suspects. The results ruled out Suspect 2 and victim himself. The bands from Suspect 1 matched the evidence taken from the fingernails. Suspect 2 did not match up with the evidence band, so that ruled out suspect 2, but does not make suspect 1 the killer. Suspect 1's bands did match up with the evidence though, proving that he was the killer. Suspect 1’s bands matched the spacious bands of the evidence, unlike suspect 2.
