Gallium was an element whose existence was predicted by Mendeleev in 1871. He predicted that the then unknown element gallium should resemble aluminum in its properties. He suggested that the name ekaaluminium. He predicted that the element would have an atomic mass of 68, its formula would be Ea2O3, the gravity would be 5.9, and that it would be discovered spectroscopically.
